Immersive Version

Welcome to By George: It All Comes Down, the immersive four-screen version of this documentary at Dupont Underground in Washington, D.C. As an introduction (and viewing guide) to the installation, you may enjoy reading this list of some “dogmas” that inspired the transformation:

  • The side screens present you with the option to take a longer look at sculptures, paintings, artifacts, documents and landscapes — always at the widest authentic view, without cropping or editing seen on the front screen.
  • You could watch only the front screen and not miss any of the documentary’s substance. But the side screens give you more control of what to look at.
  • Above the front screen, a timer counts down the hour, moving along a timeline that also tells you the current chapter title. Above that, a quadrant of subtitles includes English, and three others taking turns every hour cycling through 18 languages — our immigration diaspora.

Thank you very much for visiting. Please sign up your e-mail address at this link to get notified when By George becomes available for home viewing (including online streaming and DVD/Blu-ray). This was an independent, self-funded project, and your engagement with the material is my greatest reward. If you’re moved to comment, please write a note and drop it through the slot into the big America 250 bucket.
